BREAKING: looks like its time to dump all my references to Vintage Modern, cause I'm now officially a card carrying NEW TRADITIONALIST. Like, I'm ready to print that on a mug or a mousepad or some shit.
Last night I was lucky enough to get my ass invited to the Design TV party, thrown by a couple of my Twitter BFF's @JonathanLegate and @ABCDDesigns. If you don't follow them on Twitter, you're kind of crazy, and if you don't join in on their always lively #designTV chat every Monday from 11:30-1:30 EST you are REALLY stoopid.
They teamed up with the folks at The New Traditionalists, and threw a killer, kick-ass part-ay last night at their showroom in Soho. Like, I honestly didn't want to leave.
Mostly because I wanted to stand around and rub my body up against this chair for a little while longer.
Oh, and because I had the most amazing, mind altering drink I have ever had in my life there. I don't really drink, ppl. Alcohol does not excite me. But I swear to Gawd I am currently writing a symphony to my apple-y, ginger-y, lemon-y thing that I had last night...it was like apple pie in a glass. Like, I honestly don't know how I'm going to make it through life without having another one of these things...EVERY DAY. I kind of want one for breakfast, in all honesty. Luckily I can stalk the mixologist, cause I stole his URL from Sketch42's post.
So, yeah: The New Traditionalist furniture! OMFG.
Gorgeous, buttery, leather!? Fur piping!? Beautiful masculine fabrics!? Sexy, moody finishes!? You ppl know I love me some dude design, and this furniture is practically dripping with testosterone and shaving cream. Like if you walk into some dude's apt after a date and you see furnture from The New Traditionalists, note to self: YOU'VE GOTS A KEEPER. Try to get yourself "accidentally" knocked up or something, because you do not want to let that mofo go.
The only bad thing I can say about them is that the photos on their website TOTALLY do not do their pieces justice, cause in person they are To. Die. For. (sidenote: they should SO hire William Brinson for some reshoots! He could make all that shit look bangin).
I also got a chance to meet the CEO of TNT (@CEO_TheNewTrad), Philip Erdoes, and he was nice enough to school me in the subleties of what an Oklahoma accent sounds like. He also told me I could come back and visit this lamp that I became increasingly OBSESSED with over the course of the evening in the front of their showroom. I can't find on their site and stupidly didn't take a picture of, but it was lucite and had a black/gold shade, and it was 80's glam-ish, sex on a stick...and it completes me. HARD.
Anyway, I'm off to go see what the frig I can sell around this joint so that I can use the cash to go buy some stuff at The New Traditionalists showroom.
I suggest you do the same.
