What's Old is New Again...Or Whatever

Ok, so I have zero clue why, but over the past 6 mos or so I've been obsessed with those vintage old school style lockers like the one above. The style is pretty much the complete opposite of EVERYTHING we have in our apt, I don't have room for one, don't need any additional storage space, and honestly have no fucking clue what I'd do with one even if I bought it.

But, alas: I keep looking, and searching, and asking my husband to hide all of our credit cards whenever I see one.

[WHO GIVES A SHIT?] What Do You Splurge On?

I'm def very much in the hi/low camp when it comes to decorating (mixing nicer pieces with less expensive pieces), though aren't we all? I mean, unless you're super, duper, mega, rich (in which case, HELLO! Let's be besties and take trips to the Amalfi Coast together!) then you probs do the same thing in your place.

I mean, I've got shit from ABC Carpet AND Ikea. Tarjay completes me, but also I love my Frette robe like it's a family member.

So, if you're not a bazillionaire, what do you think is worth splurging on in your home?

Z Gallerie Gets No Respect

Why the hell doesn't anyone ever talk about Z Gallerie?? I don't get it.

True, they do have some weird shit. But they also have some fab, chic furniture and accessories, and its shockingly well priced. And if you must know, I'm totally dying over these turquoise leather wingback chairs.

And after looking at their website, there's like a million billion other things there that I want too.

BRIMFIELD: It's On Like Donkey Kong

photo: Apartment TherapyIf you read design blogs, and buy shit on ebay, and have a subscriptch to Elle Decor and you don't know what Brimfield is, then GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER IMMEDS YOU SLACKER. Cause you need to know.

Brimfield is the largest outdoor antiques show in the country, and goes down 3 x a year in Brimfield, MA. This bitch takes over the whollllle town and the population explodes from 3,000 to 250,000 as thousands of antique vendors, and hordes of hungry shoppers descend in search of treasures.

It's like ebay the live show.

AND I'MMMMMMMM GOOOOOOOINNNNNNGGGGG NEXTTTTTT WEEEEEEEEEK!

[WHO GIVES A SHIT?] Shopping Together

Somehow the first time I ever went furniture shopping with Greg, we were already married. I guess before that we had each just had some stuff, and I mixed in my stuff with his stuff and that was that. But the time came, and on a dark, gloomy night in November, we made our way to Crate & Barrel in search of a couch.

I envisioned us skipping through the store, laughing over orange sectionals and inappropriately large chairs that would never fit in our space. We were there for a couch, but maybe we'd find a great serving plate...or cool martini glasses and decide to go for it! We're married! Frank Sinatra music would be playing over the store's speaker system, and maybe in a particularly inspired moment, my new husband would ask me dance.

[OH YES I DID] Shopping With Eddie Ross

True confessions: I've *still* never gotten over the fact that Eddie Ross didn't win season two of Top Design. I mean, I'm pretty sure he's fine with it, but I'm just not. Eddie was sooo meant to win--he was the most talented, creative, and if we're being really honest: totallyfuckingadorablicious one on that entire season. But, whatevs... as Jennifer Hudson has since handily proven: you don't necessarily need to be in it to win it.

I've continued to stalk follow Eddie over the years--I love catching up on his blog and I follow him on Twitter (duh). And yeah, he's done pretty well for himself: His country home was featured on Lonny, he designed a GAW-gous window display at Bloomingdales for Elle Decor, and he's shooting his own pilot this Spring!
